Koren Muscleman Lee Jin Ho is 'Mr Asia'

Indian bodybuilders clinch 4 silver and 2 bronze medals

Korean muscleman Lee Jin Ho became the champion of champions in the 43rd Asian Bodybuilding Championship, which concluded in Aurangabad today.

On a day dominated by Korean and Bahrain bodybuilders, Lee upset the applecart of some of the big names to win the coveted 'Mr Asia' crown. Korean athletes walked away with four gold medals, while Bahrain bodybuilders bagged three gold in their respective weight categories.

Hosts Indians could not bag any gold medal, but clinched four silver and two bronze medals. Chennai's M. Rajendran (-85kgs), Manipur's Kishan Singh (-65Kgs), Borun Yuman (-70Kgs) and Varinder Ghuman (above 100Kgs.) who bagged silver medals, were outstanding form the Indian point of view, considering the fact that hey had a very tough opposition. Kishan, in particular, looked a clear winner, but Korean gold medallist Hong Hyeong Ho's better thighs perhaps tilted the balance in the latter's favour. Barring a couple of Indians, most of the host athletes need to work on their lower part of the body.

Full marks, however, to all the Indian silver medallists. in particular, Kishan and Rajendran who clinched two bronze medals.

Leading musclemen in the form of Sami Al Haddad (0100Kgs), Kamal Abdul Salam (090Kgs), Raded Fauad (above 100kgs0, Kamal Abdul Salam (-90kgs), Raed Fuad (above 100 kgs), Lee Jin Ho (-85kgs), Boo Changsoon (-80kgs.) Arafat Yakoob (-75kgs) and Kenji kondo (-70kgs), however, lived up to their reputations by winning gold medals, The hall echoed with loud cheers every time these 'hulks' gave a pose. Bahrain 's strong man smi Al Haddad, Bahrain 's Kamal Abdul Salam and Korea 's eventual "Mr Asia" winner Lee Jin Ho were in demand.

Sami Unlucky:

Sami, in particular, has an awesome physique and looked a clear favorite for the Mr. Asia title and the knowledgeable Aurangabad audience was rooting for him too. The experienced bodybuilder also appeared confident of bagging the prestigious title, as his body language clearly showed. But the judges had different ideas. It was not Sami, nor was it Kamal Abdul Salam. Much to everyone's surprise, Korean Lee Jin Ho turned out to be the champion of them all. The diminutive muscleman, no doubt, was in a perfect shape, but none could expect that he would corner glory.. Even an International Federation official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said he was stunned by the judges decision to ignore Sami Al Haddad and award the coveted title to the Korean.

 All Eyes on Dennis Wolf:

Korean Lee may have won the Mr Asia title, but the man who shorter than Dennis Wolf, the German giant who showed how the professional bodybuilders strike a pose, during a demonstration arranged soon after all the the finalists were awarded.

It was a treat for local bodybuilding buffs to watch the mighty man in action. A fourth place finisher in Mr Olympia contest last year, Dennis was awesome as the flexed his muscles. All the Asian muscleman watched the great man with rapt attention. Some even wished him success in the forthcoming Mr. Olympia event in Las Vegas .

Earlier, the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness, Dr. Rafeal Santonja, gave away the prizes to the winners.
